Who We Are

firefox

We called ourselves "The Client Server Factory," when we opened the doors in 1992, because all the good names such as "Microsoft" and "The Rolling Stones" were taken. Latin lesson: "Factory" derives from "factor," meaning "to make" or "to do." As we basically "make" enterprise software solutions, that "do" the things our clients need them to, the name fits.

Quoting Latin makes us look smart, too.

Our History

The first thing we did when we started is release a product called "SQLMonitor", one of the earliest database administration and performance optimization products, for the Microsoft Windows platform. SQLMonitor had become a hit on BBS boards and was heavily downloaded by organizations all over the world. BBS boards were a way to communicate electronically, before the Internet, for you young ones out there. Shortly after we released SQLMonitor we entered the enterprise software customization, systems integration, and technology training services business and continued to produce unique software products.

Gupta Corporation, the leading vendor of client server technology, at the time, decided SQLMonitor had to be a standard component of their relational database product. Long ago relational databases didn't come with easy-to-use administration tools. In addition to putting SQLMonitor into SQLBase, Gupta outsourced the development of other database products to TCSF. That started an ongoing tradition here, at TCSF, of offering software product development services, to leading software vendors. In addition to Gupta, TCSF has worked for companies like Borland Software, ADP, Pointbase, Virgin Records, Embarcadero, Excite, Office Tiger, Pervasive Software, HP, and others. TCSF created the Windows based payroll system (PC Payroll) for ADP, for example. According to Sam Inman, former Gupta CEO, “TCSF’s development of PC Payroll is the most advanced use of this type of technology.”

Since 2000 TCSF has been engaged exclusively on projects related to the governance of outsourcing agreements. It counts one of the largest outsourcers in the world, among it's clients, and has used it's unique software solutions on some of the world's highest profile outsourcing engagements.

Managed Services

firefox TCSF's initial involvement on new outsourcing governance engagements typically begins with a contract assessment/gap analysis. During this phase we study the outsourcing agreement and any changes to it. We identify such things as the global rules, the billing rules, client account structures, pricing structures, the state of inventory and service based data, implementation and security requirements. We also compare the requirements of the new contract against the features and functions of our off-the-shelf solutions.
